Teaching

Since 20 years Dasniya practices Japanese Shibari/Bondage stretching performative aesthetic categories and making shibari accessible to a wider and intersectional community. 
She combines pure Japanese techniques (currently Akira Naka inspired) with an unconventional anarchic approach. Often weaving objects or organic material into the tying process. Or, using restriction with ropes as movement strategy, especially for performances. Dasniya’s teaching is informed by her experience as rigger, shibari model, dancer and choreographer.
Melting schools and philosophies from many teachers such as Chanta Rose, Kasumi Hourai, Arisue Go, Tamandua, Akira Naka, Iroha Shizuki, Norio Sugiura, Gestalta and Kamijoo Saki.
She regularly develops workshop concepts at ‘Haus Sommer’, her atelier in Uferhallen Kulturwerkstatt and for Karada House Berlin.
She taught at ImPulsTanz Vienna, Lismore’s Queer-Community & Critical Path/Australia, Braunschweig University of Art and for many theatre production in Berlin and abroad. Topics of the workshops vary depending on context and the participants between technical aspects of shibari rituals, and explorations of restricted movement.
‘Sculpting or moving with ropes I strongly enjoy the handcraft in itself, combined with sensual attention towards my partner or the bondage material. I strive for the sensual auratic presence and a transformative force taking over.‘

Haus Sommer is a small atelier located in Uferhallen Kulturwerkstatt in Berlin-Wedding, with 7 suspension-points, bamboo suspension, dance floor, mats and tea kitchen. Please bring comfortable clothes and ropes if you have.

Workshop: Die Shibari Experience (Hamburg)

Während ihrer Fleetstreet Residenz bietet Dasniya Sommer einen offenen Shibari Bondage Workshop für interessierte Einsteiger* innen an. In dem dreistündigen Kurs werden technische Grundlagen vorgestellt und miteinander ausprobiert. Im Fokus stehen erste Erfahrung mit den Seilen, ein effizientes body-handling, Sicherheitsprinzipien wie Reibung und Seilspannung und intuitive Kommunikation.
Darauf aufbauend werden gemeinsam klassische Ober- und Unterkörper-Harnesse erstellt. Gemeinsam reflektiert die Gruppe die emotionale Ebene des Shibari, lernt Rollenspielvarianten (von dominant bis submissiv) kennen und bespricht die Rolle der inneren Haltung innerhalb eines zu schaffenden emotionalen Schutzraums.

Seit über zehn Jahren praktiziert und unterrichtet Dasniya Sommer Shibari/Bondage Workshops u.a. beim ImPulsTanz Festival Wien, im Queer Art Studio Berlin oder an der Kunsthochschule Braunschweig. Technisch ist sie sowohl mit dem fesselnden als auch dem Part des gefesselt Werdens vertraut und vermittelt beide Perspektiven aus ihrer langjährigen Erfahrung sowohl als sogenannte Rigger*in und als Bondage Model.
